Little Miss Scarlet Claire and Sushi

For all you faithful followers, I just thought I would post a 'quickie' of the latest picture of Little Miss Scarlet Claire and Sushi. 

Some of you may have followed the Growth Chart of my first grandchild with my crazy cat.  If you happened to miss it, you can read about it here. 

Year one was a blast with these two photogenic little hams; that is until the last few months when Scarlet got a little more active and Sushi wasn't so inclined to be still beside her.  Year two proved to be too much of a challenge as it just aggravated me more and more to get them both to sit still.  It just wasn't meant to be. 

Today however, I was able to grab the camera on time. 

For some reason the name Falcor comes to mind.
(  let's see how many of you 'get that' )

One of these days I'm going to create a photobook of these two, but... I'll wait a little longer until Scarlet can really appreciate it.  Right now, she eats her books; that and anything else made of cardboard or paper. It's imperative that someone changes the empty toilet paper roll before she finds it !!

Scarlet - Growth Chart @ 12 months old

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCARLET CLAIRE

Scarlet is one year old today -

 - and I love love love the Scarlet/Sushi growth chart for the past year. 

What a great keepsake and thanks for letting me share it with you.

This is the final post for Scarlet and Sushi in this particular position - it's time to come up with another plan.  Scarlet is just too quick for this old lady. I'll have to put my thinking cap on and try to come up with something unique for year two.  Suggestions anyone ? 

 

Let's take a look back over the past year.

 

 Now... I'm hoping the next string of photos isn't any indication of trouble for year two.....

Scarlet notices that Sushi is playing with her Birthday Balloon 

and she looks to Gramma for help !

Then Scarlet tried to wrestle Sushi for her Birthday Balloon!

 

It appears Sushi has won this match and has laid claim to her prize ! 

Notice how she has the string wrapped around her paws.

Sushi isn't giving up this prize anytime soon.

Note the evil eye. 

But Scarlet is actually OK with all this.

After all, she's got a Birthday Cake to wrestle with instead. 

Scarlet - Growth Chart @ 11 Months

Next month will be the last month of the growth chart of Scarlet and Sushi in this position because not only do we hit our 1 year old goal mark, but it now takes 3 of us to get Scarlet to lay still ! 

It's quite comical at times and time consuming, and well worth the effort for such a wonderful keepsake.  

It will be interesting to see what we can come up with for year 2.

Scarlet Growth Chart @ 10 Months

The last 10 months have just flown by.   It's that time again to post Scarlet and Sushi's growth chart.  I'm not sure what the next two months will bring in terms of photo sessions with these two little wiggle worms laying still for the same pose, so stay tuned for the results.

Scarlet Growth Chart @ 9 Months

Oh my goodness, 9 months old already!!   As our faithful followers know, each month I take a picture of my grand daughter Scarlet with my crazy cat Sushi.  The second I put the blanket on the floor the cat is right there ready for the photo. 

  It appears my grand daughter knows how to flip the bird.

Sushi is so patient with Scarlet. 

Once Scarlet learns how to sit still and cuddle, I can see these two spending many hours lounging together.

Scarlet's Growth Chart @ 8 months old

WOW!  What a difference 7 months makes!  It takes 3 of us now to get the growth chart pictures;  one to hold the camera, one to put the cat in place and one to keep the baby from attacking the cat (which the cat loves by the way, as does Scarlet). 

Scarlet is 8 months old now and in the picture below, you can see the difference that 7 months makes.  Amazing.  She is saying 'mum mum mum' and 'da' - we could have swore the other day she said 'thank you'.  She also loves it when I sing the soundtrack to Disney's Cinerella. (guess I better brush up on the lyrics). Scarlet is up on all fours and will soon be crawling, which... you know what that means;  now I HAVE to vacuum.(dammit) No more getting away with 'oh just put your slippers on Bonnie, and do it another day'.

so she loves it when Sushi curls up next to her. 
At least Sushi knows enough to close her eye.

Scarlet's Growth Chart @ 7 months

Time again for Scarlet and Sushi's Growth Chart. We've hit the 7 month mark and I still don't know where the time has gone.  In my last post I had commented that it's getting harder now to capture these two sitting still beside each other.  While both are absolute 'hams' when the camera comes out - they fidget far too much when together.   The moment I put Scarlet on a blanket, Sushi is right there.  She can't stand to be too far from her, but she is learning to keep a bit of a distance now that Scarlet can grab a hold of her.

Now Sushi is giving her kisses too.

Scarlet and Sushi will be here for you again next month about this time. 

Until then, let's learn from these two. Go grab someone you love and give them a  kiss like that !!

Scarlet's Growth Chart @ 6 Months Old

December 26th is Scarlet's 6 month mark and it's time again for another growth chart.   The past 6 months seem to have just flown by.  It's getting a little trickier now to get both Sushi and Scarlet to sit still; Sushi isn't as interested in the pink thing that is nice and warm to cuddle up next to.  Now it moves!  It grabs!  It pulls!  It tries to bite ears!

"I'll show her who's boss around here", said Sushi.

For anyone who may be concerned...
the scratch marks are not from Sushi. (She has been declawed) 
Scarlet had a bad nail.

Since Libby lives out of town and we don't get to see her as often it's really hard to try and have a growth chart done with her.  Libby is a little nervous around the baby, but each time she sees her, she inches closer each time.

The Sock Monkey that Scarlet got for Christmas was a hit.  It covers and uncovers its eyes and says 'peek-a-boo' and then giggles; multiple times.  It sounds like another little baby interacting with Scarlet and she just loves it. 

  

After a long and exhausting day of peek-a-booing and jolly-jumping, Scarlet was chillin' out with 'Aunti N' and one of her favourite things is to hang onto the couch and look out the window.  When I came upon them... Niki said, 'Mom, she's awfully still, is she sleeping?"  Sure enough.

 

Niki was a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz, and when she was little she always referred to it as 'the wizard o'boz'.  So shortly after Scarlet was born she said, "I'm going to teach Scarlet to call me Aunti N, and then she will never want me to leave her and she will always say ' come back Aunti N, come back!' " 

We had a lovely Christmas this year; it was the first Christmas in over 20 years that my girls were with me for the entire day. (they usually spend Christmas eve and morning with me, and the rest of the day with their dad - so it is a rush to get gifts opened, eat, shower and change and get out the door before noon).   So this year,  we were able to take our time opening gifts, we had a delicious Christmas breakfast and we lounged in our pj's until 4pm.  Then we headed to my mom's across town for dinner.  (a whole of a 2 minute drive).  

So twice that day I got to say; "There's no place like home. There's no place like home!" 

But now I am back to work after a 10 day stretch of holidays and everyone is gone back home.  So now it's my turn to say....

"Come back Aunti N Come back."
(you too Aunti H, Uncle S ....and your little dog too)

Scarlet Claire - 2 months old

Well Scarlet Claire is 2 months old today, so it's time to take another growth chart photo with Sushi.  Somehow, I don't think making the cat sit still for photos is going to be an issue.....

Maybe if I stretch my leg just a little bit more I can be as long as Sushi...

That's it Sushi... curl your tail, then I can look as long as you!

Something furry is tickling my face..!

Sushi loves me.

Something tells me that these two are going to be great friends.
