Dinner, Anyone?

I have never really owned a full, matching set of everyday dishes.  I'll pick up plates and bowls as I need them - a few will break or chip, so when I see a replacement that catches my eye I'll buy it.

Well, something caught my eye one evening while I was out walking the dog.  I was going through downtown, window shopping along the way. (This doesn't take very long, since our community only has about 3000 people!).  I took a peek in the St. Vincent De Paul window and spotted these pretty dishes!  I couldn't tell how many pieces were actually there, so I kept it in the back of my mind to stop in one day after work and have a better look.

A week or so went by, and I finally got the chance to go in and they were still there!!  I inspected the dishes a bit closer and saw that they were in really good shape, but I couldn't find a price on any of them.  I asked the lady working whether or not I had to take the whole lot (I really didn't want the cups and saucers), and she said no... each piece was .25 !!  I scooped up all that was there and almost jumped for joy when the total came up on the till as $4.25!!!

They say (who are "they" anyway? lol) that if you hold onto something long enough, it comes back in style.  The pretty green/blue combo in the flowers is all the rage right now, so I guess I'm good to go.  I was curious as to the age of the dishes, so I did some searching online with no luck.  I did find one site though that was selling just one of the dinner plates for $10.00!!!

After seeing that, I really do think I got the "deal of the day"  :-)

Like your new dishes and the price can't be beat. I think they must be 50 or 60's vintage and love the pattern name as my maiden name is Gay
Enjoy
